Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera

The flower carrier

ANALYSIS PROJECT

The flower carrier is painted by Diego Rivera the husband of Frida Kahlo. On this painting is shown a man who is succumbing to the flower basket. The painting represents that a beautiful thing can also be heavy for someone to support. The peasant doesn't see the vibrant pink flowers, the only values that he sees is the money he will earn from them, although he almost succumbs to them. It also looks like the woman is bigger in this painting and bigger in paintings means more important. Does that maybe mean the man is forced to drag/wear these flowers to the market to earn money by the woman, who is most likely his wife? Does this maybe represent a moment in Diego Rivera's life? The theme is

This painting is painted by Frida Kharo. As the title already tells this is a self-portrait of Frida Kahlo, herself with a thorn necklace and animals around her. I think this painting has the message of nature being surrounded by animals but still having a straight face. The title almost exactly describes what is in the painting this makes us immediately search where we can find these animals and this thorne necklace. The theme is nature this particular painting came in an exposition about nature. The genre is self-portrait.

Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird

This painting is a painting because of the materials used it being 2D. When I first saw this artwork I immediately thought of the sky, sunset and the galaxy, because it looks a bit like pink clouds. The second thing I noticed was how easy it would be to make this, but when I looked better I saw it was not only purple also pink, white and blue are mixed in. I think the artist painted layer upon layer to create this beautiful painting, I thought can also see that on the sides. You can notice blue, yellow and red lines. The colours made with acrylic paint. This artist has a special technique for her paintings silicet spray painting. Working with three spray guns simultaneously and coating it with metallic, iridescent and pearlescent paint.

This is a painting because of it being on a canvas and acrylic and/or oil paint being used. The first thing that came up to me when I saw this picture was Italy, Piemontes mountains, the dolomites. When I went there, there were loads of this kind of valleys. The first thing I noticed was the red colors used I do not know what those stand for. That is also why I find this painting very interesting. I think the painter wanted the person who is looking at the painting to feel relaxed and be amazed.
